Umbria<\/a> is a magical region. It is located close by famous Tuscany<\/strong> but it is still a little undiscovered and wild. Lorna and Ben chose it for their lovely country wedding in Italy<\/a>.
\nLorna and Ben are a beautiful couple coming from Australia<\/strong>. They chose one of the most beautiful wedding venue in Umbria region\u2026 we can say that this is also one of the most beautiful country wedding in Italy: La Badia in Orvieto<\/strong>.

La Badia – An island of stones in a sea of green<\/h2>\n

Badia is described as an \u201cisland of stones in a sea of green\u201d. Description is pefect! It is a renowned historical venue, and it is the ideal venue to dive in green Umbrian countryside. Here you can breath a unique sense of well-being. It is magical, full of energy and charm.
\nBadia is located in Orvieto<\/a>, in the ancient land of the Etruscans. Orvieto lies on the main communication routes between Florence and Rome, and it is a crossroads of culture and traditions from Val d’Orcia<\/strong> to Tuscia<\/strong> and thermal spas and baths. Orvieto<\/a>, with its heritage of art and its fascinating cultural events, is one of Italy\u2019s outstanding attractions and the perfect destination for a country wedding in Italy.<\/p>\n

Inside La Badia there are 22 rooms and 5 suites<\/strong> overlooking the courtyards of the ancient abbey. Wide park, and hills clothed with olive trees and rows of vines with the tufa plateau and its majestic Cathedral<\/strong> rising up in the background make the landscape simply unique!<\/p>\n

La Badia location<\/strong> is strategically great There are many activities to do in the surrounding: from excursions into nature, visits to archaeological sites and the neighbouring art cities, wine and olive oil tastings in traditional olive mills. Spas and Parks of the Waters of Upper Lazio and Tuscany are within easy reach. In two hours you can reach romantic Florence<\/a>, and Rome or even Siena!. It takes but an hour to reach Montalcino, Montepulciano and Pienza, and half an hour to get to Civita di Bagnoregio and the Lake Bolsena<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Back to Lorna and Ben\u2019s wedding! Our bride and groom decided to plan both ceremony and reception at the venue. Initially the garden facing Orvieto was the perfect spot for the wedding ceremony but the weather turned out to be rainy and we had to move it inside the old refectory, which is a hall inside the Badia with precious ancient frescos. And it is more than a plan B<\/em>, it is a wonderful spot!

Lorna hold an elegant cream wedding bouquet<\/strong> with roses and gypsophila that perfectly matched her vintage wedding dress<\/strong>.
\nA crown made with the same flowers, gave the bride a bucolic style<\/em>, too.
\nBen, the groom, on the other hand, had an elegant cream suit.<\/p>\n

An amazing wedding dinner at La Badia in Orvieto<\/h2>\n

After a romantic wedding ceremony bride and groom went down to Orvieto<\/strong> for some wedding pictures inside the old town and in front of the stunning Abbey<\/strong>, one of the most beautiful churches in Italy.<\/p>\n

When they got back to La Badia<\/strong>, they reached out guests for their wedding cocktail<\/strong> inside the courtyard. Here they all enjoyed delicious Italian aperitif<\/strong>, all made with local Umbrian products: very genuine.
\nSeated wedding dinner was served inside Badia refectory<\/strong> where we set up a long top table. We decorated the wedding top table with a green runner with candles and floral bouquets<\/strong> all along the table.
\nWe planned the cut of the wedding cake outdoor overlooking Orvieto by night. Romantic fairy lights did the rest!
\nWe opened for Sweets buffet and open bar and the dancing party<\/strong> could start! What a great night!<\/p>\n
