A magic wedding in Orvieto, Umbria Countryside

Orvieto is an ancient town built over a tuff cliff. The first settlement dates back to Etruscan age. Its particular position and its rich architectural heritage make the town one of the most visited in Central Italy. Duomo of Orvieto is the best example of Italian gothic architecture and it hosts famous works of artist like Cimabue and Gentile from Fabriano.

A magical wedding at Badia di Orvieto

Just few kilometres away rises Badia di Orvieto, from where you can enjoy a terrific view of the cliff of the town, one of a kind. The venue is a luxurious hotel inside the ancient building of an abbey dating to the VI century AD. Internal courtyard leads to a secret garden under the still standing tower, the entrance of a small consecrated church and the beautiful ruins of the real abbey with an survivor arch that frames the view of the city. Inside the rooms are still frescoed. The building was restored few years ago to meet needs of their new guests and fabulous wedding receptions in Umbria.

Lloyd and Kim chose it for their Italian wedding. They are both Australian living in London. Two adorable people that fell in love with this amazing wedding venue in Umbria.
They opted for a symbolic wedding ceremony, surrounded by their relatives, in the former refectory of the abbey under a beautiful fresco. Decorations inside the room was sober, all in with white peonies and gypsophila, matching with Kim’s bouquet made of total all white peonies. The ceremony was simple yet very emotional for bride and groom.

The whole group had a toast to follow and a rich aperitif in the courtyard of the monk residence where a big gelato van waswaiting for them serving homemade delicious Italian gelato.
Lloyd and Kim had a vintage Fiat 500 car waiting for them outside the abbey. They left their guests having a drink to travel in the surroundings Umbria countryside to take some amazing pictures together.

Just Married couple came back later, had a change of outfit and they gave appointment to their friend for the wedding dinner. It was set in the stunning frame of abbey ruins. It was lightened by many candles and rows of fairy lights and bulbs falling from the walls creating a nice perspective around the table. Wedding floral arrangements were rich and sumptuous. They were all made with peonies in the shades of pink and white. Silver high candelabras and porcelain small vases all over the long imperial table did the rest. A powerful, surreal and romantic set up.

Bride and groom and their guests had a special night gladdened by fun music of the DJ that made them all dance. One of the most touching moments was their first dance, they really kicked it with a funny and romantic choreography they performed perfectly.
